Hiring an interior designer is exciting, but it is also personal.
You are inviting someone into your home, your routines and your investment decisions. That requires trust.
As an interior designer in Leigh on Sea working with clients across Essex, my approach at Atelier 44 is calm, structured and collaborative. High end, but approachable. Creative, but always grounded in how you actually live.
Here is what working with me really looks like.
1. The Discovery Call
Everything starts with a conversation.
This is our opportunity to see if we are the right fit. I want to understand how you live, what is not working in your space and how you want your home to feel.
We will discuss:
Your lifestyle and day to day needs
Your aesthetic preferences
Budget and investment expectations
Timescales
The overall scope of your project
Whether you are renovating a single room or redesigning your entire home, this first step sets the tone for a considered and well managed interior design process.
After our call, if we decide to move forward, I will send you a detailed design questionnaire.
2. The Design Questionnaire

This allows me to go deeper before I visit your home.
The questionnaire explores how each room functions in your life, your preferences around colour and materials, storage needs, lighting considerations and the atmosphere you want to create. Some clients come to me with a very clear vision. Others feel unsure and want guidance. I am used to working with both.
Your answers give me valuable context so that our site visit is focused and meaningful.
3. The Site Visit
Next, I visit your home. During this appointment I:
Take detailed measurements
Photograph the space
Assess layout opportunities and constraints
Review architectural features
Go through your questionnaire answers together
This stage is about more than dimensions. It is about understanding how the light moves, how you use the space naturally and where the true potential lies.
Following the visit, I prepare a clear and tailored quotation based on the agreed scope of works. This ensures your investment aligns with your vision from the outset.

4. Your Proposal
Using everything gathered from our call, questionnaire and site visit, I create a detailed proposal outlining:
The scope of services
Project phases
Estimated timelines
My design fee
Clarity at this stage is essential. A well structured interior design process creates a calm foundation for creativity.
Once approved, we move into concept development.
5. Concept Development
This is where your home begins to take shape.
I present:
Mood boards
Material and finish selections
Furniture direction
Layout concepts
Lighting ideas
While I personally love warmth, texture and layered interiors, my role is never to impose a signature style. I design around you. Your taste, your lifestyle and the architecture of your home guide every decision.
As part of my interior design service, I focus on creating spaces that feel cohesive, timeless and deeply personal.
Sustainability matters to me, and where appropriate I enjoy incorporating antique or characterful pieces that bring depth and longevity to a scheme.

6. Detailed Design
Once the concept is approved, I develop the scheme fully.
This includes:
Final furniture and lighting specifications
Fabric and upholstery selections
Paint colours
Joinery details where required
Styling and accessory selections
You receive a clear, considered design plan that you can confidently implement.
7. Procurement & Project Coordination
Every client is different, and I structure this stage to suit you.
If you would like a full service interior design experience, I can manage ordering, track deliveries and coordinate timelines on your behalf, ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
If you prefer to manage purchasing yourself, I provide detailed shopping lists with specifications, quantities and supplier information so you can implement the design independently and at your own pace.
Whether you are based in Leigh on Sea or elsewhere in Essex, the level of support is entirely tailored to you.
8. Installation & Styling

Installation days are always special.
Furniture is positioned, artwork is hung, lighting is adjusted and the final layers are added. Styling is never an afterthought. It is the detail that transforms a well designed room into one that feels complete.
When you walk back into your home, it should feel elevated, intentional and entirely yours.
Working With Me
Clients often tell me they feel:
Truly listened to
Guided rather than pushed
Clear on what is happening next
Confident in their decisions
Excited about their home again
My goal as an interior designer is not just to create beautiful rooms, but to design spaces that support your everyday life.
Ready to Begin?
If you are looking for an interior designer in Leigh on Sea or across Essex who offers a structured yet personal approach, I would love to hear from you.
Because beautiful interior design is not just about how a space looks, it is about how it makes you feel every single day.
